If your near London Fields tomorrow and you like (as I do) a bit of vintage then pop along to the  Vintage Secret sale from 1.30-6pm. Apparently theres been 10 years of collecting and it's all got to go.

If your in East London this New Year consider the 'Disappearing Dining Club'. For 75 of your English pounds you get a five course meal and entertainment from 7pm - 6am in intimate and super trendy warehouse loft space in East london. I think if there is a group of you this would be a brilliant way to celebrate together. A different type of glitz and glamour than that on offer in Dubai and totally unique. I love the fact that a heated roof terrace for smokers is a selling point (in dubai you can mostly smoke indoors and no need for a heated terrace...?) you'll get to watch the fireworks across the city and hangout in the coolest of cool- definitely an evening to remember.

I'm going to the Cellar for New Year... this also goes from 7pm-6am and promises to be memorable but at twice the price, I'm pretty sure it wont compare to something like the loft party for the style and intimacy... again the total opposites of the East, Dalston (yeah Ok its Old street not Dalston but you know this blog often stretches the metaphor) and the Middle East, Dubai. Still, New Years is about the people your with so once you've had a few drinks and a bit of a dance with friends we'll all be merry wherever we are.

An article in the guardian last week showcased the new velodrome being built for the Olympics in East London. Why the need to name these beauties after objects? I've been away for a while now, but my visiting friend told me that Londoners now have not only the 'Gherkin' but the 'Cheese grater' and the 'Phillishave'

Anyway, I think the new 'Pringle' velodrom is awesome and a brilliant new addition to the Olympic buildings. Apparently inspired by the tautness and energy of cycle racing, I can't wait to see it for real.

My friend Georgina passed this on to me last week, I couldn't resist sharing. Quite harsh and scathing but I've got to admit some of the photos are so funny and the comments even funnier.

England People Very Nice is a great sweep of a comedy that follows four waves of immigration, from the 17th century to today, into the chaotic world of Bethnal Green. This is the last chance to see London's most riotous new play.

I love the concept, rummage through the vintage clothes while you sip on a cocktail and the dj plays records. All housed in the most appropriate pub the Albert & Pearl on Upper Street. I'd love to start something like this in Dubai it just wouldn't seem appropriate bringing your old tat to the Hilton, there's just no equivalent venue or product here in Dubai. I know there is the interest in cute, vintage clothes but would just need to work out the right platform to sell them. Another dalston-dubai spin-off I think.
